A DIY Project: Foldout Bench with Free Woodwork Plans

If you've ever wanted to work on some cool diy wood projects, here's a great one to try out. This diy project creates a foldout bench and it comes with free wood work plans to follow along the way. First of all, of all the things to build with wood, this has to be one of the coolest diy ideas ever. This isn't just your typical picnic table, although it can be a picnic table if you want it to be. It can also be a bench seat with cup holders if you want it to be too. With a single movement, the bench is changed into a picnic table, and the picnic table can be turned back into a bench seat. You simply just pull up on the seat of the bench and it folds out to be a full sized picnic table with a couple of arm rests with drink holders in them. You're probably already thinking how handy one of these would be for your cabin or in your back yard, especially in the summer time when everyone likes to eat outside more often. On The Wood Plans website, you can gain access to the plans to make this awesome project yourself. All you need to do is enter your email address and they'll email the plans to you so you can download them.

The downloadable plans give you the full outline of all the materials you need, and at what lengths they need to be cut, so you can cut them yourself, or take a cut list to your lumber yard. For the project all you need is a circular saw, a jig saw, and a drop saw that can cut specific angles. Then you need an electric drill, a hammer and a hand saw, a square, a measuring tape, a pencil, and a screw driver. Plus you'll need the right sized drill bits to drill your holes. They show you on a diagram exactly where all of the connections are and label them accordingly. The directions are available once you enter in your email address, plus you get access to a whole library of diy wood projects to keep you busy and content. They give you these plans free of charge and when you get access to the rest of the site, you will have access to over 16,000 things to build with wood, with complete instructions and how-to videos which always make it so much easier to follow along. When you go to their home page you'll see some of the cool diy wood projects they feature on their site.

They have beautiful baby cribs and bassinets, as well as rocking horses and even a dog bed that's a hammock. You can learn how to build your own dressers, wooden bed frames, other seats and stools, as well as jewelry boxes and salt and pepper shakers. If you want to build something larger, they also share tutorials on home and garden shelters like gazebos and sheds. Ted is the man behind the website and he's the one sharing all of these awesome diy ideas with us. Ted is originally from Ireland, but he lived in the United States for over 15 years, mostly on the East coast, but also spent some time in California. Currently he lives in the United Kingdom where he has actually retired but he still loves teaching woodworking and making things out of wood. If you're someone who loves to create things from wood, this could be a great website to have access to, or at least to just try out the free plans and see how you like them.***
